The Executive of the National Democratic Party (NDP), have confirmed their congress, originally scheduled for the weekend to elect a flagbearer has been postponed indefinitely. This is the second time in less than a month the party is postponing its congress. The latest postponement has heightened speculations that the executive are having difficulties convincing former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, to accept to bear the NDP's flag to the December elections. But interim General Secretary Dr. Joseph Mamboah-Rockson told Joy News those speculations are without basis. He explained that “We as a party cannot go to Kumasi renting star hotels for our delegates. We need to find out moderate accommodation and as you are aware, schools like KNUST, K-Poly and others are in session,” he said.He added that, “hosting over 5,000 delegates is not an easy thing, we have logistical problems and venue problems and not because,” the party is waiting for Nana Konadu to come on board.Meanwhile unconfirmed reports say the former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings will be attending the ruling National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) campaign launch in Ho Thursday. If she does, it will be her first attendance at an official function of the NDC since she lost the flagbearership contest to late President John Evans Atta Mills in Sunyani last year.
