The National Executive Committee of the National Democratic Party (NDP) has unanimously endorsed by a resolution Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings as the party's flagbearer for the December 7 polls.
The wife of the NDC founder went into today’s congress as the sole contender and was unanimously endorsed by the executive committee.
Nana Konadu on Thursday announced her resignation from the NDC, a party she was once a vice-chairperson, to contest the NDP flagbearership.
In her acceptance speech, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings told delegates that her endorsement as flagbearer has dawn a new era in the Ghanaian political landscape.
According to her, the NDP is a party that was born out of the need to transform Ghana. She said, currently, poverty and discontent remains rife among Ghanaians, adding that an NDP government under her leadership will eradicate these endemic challenges.
The NDP flagbearer stated that her government would not only be people centered but will also be guided by their moral obligation to the masses.
Her government will practice “people over politics,” she pledged.
Nana Konadu promised an all-inclusive government, particularly embracing the marginalized populace - women and children. According to Nana Konadu, her party will restore the principles of probity, accountability and transparency to governance in the country.
She asked Ghanaians to be courageous and “bold” as they rally behind her for a society of equal opportunities for everyone.
