Last Saturday, the College of Physicians and Surgeons hall was flooded with youths from across the country in pursuit of wisdom and insight from experienced and accomplished young entrepreneurs.
It was a special Conference that was organized to encourage the Youth to strive for achievement and success.
The conference was dubbed ‘You are not too young to Achieve’ with key speakers as Mike Nyinaku, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Beige Capital, a fast-rising financial institution, and CIMG Marketing Man of the Year 201, 1Roland Agambire, the CEO of rLG Communication.
The conference is part of a series of programmes that is preceding the maiden edition of the National Youth Achievers Awards, scheduled to come off on 25th October 2012 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The Conference which was hosted by renowned motivational speaker, Mr. Emmanuel Dei-Tumi, of the Foundation for Future Leaders, was used to celebrate the exploits of two prominent youth achievers who, in turn, also shared their experiences with the youth through various interesting presentations.
In their respective presentations, the two gentlemen encouraged the youth to aspire beyond the ordinary in their pursuits of success, as a way to weed out mediocrity from the Ghanaian society.
Mr. Nyinaku, in this regard, proffered a five-point guideline by which every serious-minded youth should follow,ie “Raise your bar, outdo yourself, don't pass the buck (blame), have a sense of time and just do it...”
Similarly, Mr. Agambire entreated the youth to draw inspiration from the challenges that they encounter in their pursuit of excellence, intimating: “Sometimes, those are the things that spur us to think deep and bring out the creativity in us!”
The conference was also interspersed with motivational messages by Mr. Dei Tumi, one of which was: “Comfort is an enemy to achievement.”
Some of the youths who participated in the conference expressed delight at the success of the conference in a post-event interview, as others called for the duration to be prolonged during next year’s edition.
The National Youth Achievers’ Award will honour a number of youth achievers who have excelled in their respective fields of endeavour in about 24 categories.
In the early hours of 25th October, a grand job fair will be organized for the youth and the general public. This is to help curb youth unemployment in the country. The Main Awards ceremony will then come off later in the day.
As an initiative of the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the awards aim at encouraging the youth to strive for excellence. It is sponsored by the rLG Communications.
