Government has vowed to enforce the necessary laws to ensure that the retail market is reserved for Ghanaians.
It earlier this year began an exercise to remove foreigners who were illegally operating in the retail business.
This however did not go down well with some foreign traders especially ECOWAS nationals who thought they were being victimized.
The traders have already petitioned the ECOWAS parliament to stay the action.
But speaking to Joy Business after a brief interaction with some journalists, Trade Minister Hannah Tetteh said her ministry will do everything to ensure that Ghanaians fully benefit from this sector.
The current investment laws bar foreigners from engaging in the retail markets which are reserved exclusively for indigenes.
Foreigners can only participate except they have a minimum capital of 300 thousand dollars.
