Twenty young entrepreneurs will this week be selected as final participants for this year’s edition of JOYBUSINESS’ entrepreneurial mentorship program, MY BUSINESS 2012. This was after some participants shortlisted from over 2000 applications went through an interview process over the weekend. The final three for this year’s program will receive some GHS 10,000 each for their operations. The program which is in its third year was put together by JOYBUSIENSS in partnership with the MTN Ghana Foundation. Two members of the interview panel, General Manager in charge of International Trade at UniBank, Clifford Mettle and Financial Consultant Sidney Casley–Hayford shared their experiences. “Generally, some of them are very good, others actually disappointed us but others too excelled. The have a very defined career…they were not focused on the money, it was the mentoring,” Clifford noted. Sidney added: “There [is] always a glimmer of hope when you talk to young people like these, and clearly most of them are grappling for direction and the whole approach of mentoring them seems to be the most attractive one. “They certainly think that their biggest weakness is mentoring. Clearly the money is not the motivation, what they are really looking for is the guidance…”
