The Volta River Authority (VRA) says it has increased the generation capacity of the Aboadze Thermal Plant to better manage the current load shedding exercise.
The Authority disclosed this at a Stakeholders’ forum organized by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission in Takoradi.
Engineer Stephen Owusu, who is the Maintenance Engineer for the Aboadze Thermal Plant, told Max Business News “… an additional fifty megawatts has been added to the generation capacity at Aboadze.”
Meanwhile the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission says it is working closely with the power producers and distributor to manage the situation appropriately.
“If there is a problem and VRA or GRIDCO asks the utility to take of the load, it is impromptu but consumers should be communicated to…” observed the Public Relations and External Affairs Official at the Commission, Nana Yaa Gyantuah.
