The management of Kwaebibirem District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme has established Community Health Insurance Committees (CHIC) to assist in its operations at the grassroots.They are to assist premium collectors to handle issues relating to registration, single parenthood, grandmothers with children below 18 years, provide community education on health insurance and handle complaints at the community and grassroots level.This was announced by Mr John Awuku-Ahevi, Scheme Manager at a workshop organised for Chairmen and Secretaries of CHIC at Kade.He explained that some problems encountered by premium collectors were determining the correct age of clients especially the exempt group.Mr Ahevi stressed the need for CHIC members to collaborate with premium collectors to ensure sustainability of the scheme in their communities.The scheme had as at July 31, this year, registered 104,836 clients and collected 210,000 Ghana cedis (2.1 billion cedis) in premium .Source: GNA
