Information reaching JOY Sports reveals that Maritzburg United centre back Awal Mohammed could be included by Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah in Ghana’s 25-man provisional squad for the 2013 African Nations squad that will be in the UAE for a pre-tournament training exercise.
Sources in the South Africa League confirms that ,the player has been included because of concerns over the fitness of Jonathan Mensah, John Boye and Isaac Vorsah who have all just recovered from various degrees injuries.
Appiah will name his squad this afternoon at a press conference in Accra at the FA secretariat.
Defenders likely to make the squad for AFCON 2013: John Paintsil, Samuel Inkoom, John Boye, Jonathan Mensah, Isaac Vorsah, Jerry Akaminko, Lee Addy, Harrison Afful, Rashid Sumaila and Awal Mohammed
Awal began his career with the Feyenoord Academy in July 2010 and later joined ASEC Mimosas on loan.He returned in November 2010 to Feyenoord Academy and later was sold to Asante Kotoko.
In August 2012, Awal joined South African Premier Soccer League club Maritzburg United.
