As part of a working visit to Kumasi, Mr. Gregory Metcalf, Managing Director of Accra Brewery Limited and since 1st April 2012, also Managing Director of Voltic Ghana Limited, paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at his Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. Both Accra Brewery and Voltic Ghana are subsidiaries of SABMiller Plc.Voltic Ghana Limited has a bottling plant located at Nyameani, and a depot in Kumasi whilst Accra Brewery Limited also has a depot in Kumasi. Accompanied by the management team of Accra Brewery and Voltic Ghana, Mr. Metcalf presented two cheques, from both companies, totalling twenty thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC20,000) to the Otumfuo Education fund and the Environment, Water and Sanitation fund of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Charity foundation. He also made a presentation of ninety-five (95) assorted cases of products from both companies to Manhyia Palace.During the visit, Mr Metcalf said, the delegation was grateful to His Majesty for granting them audience. He also informed his Majesty about the state of both companies, the on-going investment in capacity expansion and how well the companies’ brands are doing.The Asantehene in receiving the presentation thanked the delegation for their visit and the donations to his Charity. He asked that the two companies keep track of the work of his Charity foundation in order to see the good work that the money is put to. His Majesty also commended the management team of both Companies for their good work and encouraged them to keep it up particularly in the area of human resource development. He added that being part of the SABMiller family means that the many Ghanaians employed by both companies will receive high quality training which ultimately benefits Ghana.It is the aim of Accra Brewery and Voltic Ghana to provide sustainable development and support for all the communities they work in, and the companies continue to make significant contributions to the socio-economic development of Ghana.
