The abuser in the widely condemned Adisadel College assault will appear before court today, Friday, July 28.
It follows his arrest by the police on Wednesday after the incident went viral on social media.
Following his arrest, he was initially cautioned for assault and causing harm, and subsequently released to the school’s headmaster to be produced in court today.
He was captured on a viral video choking his junior colleague during a disagreement over a SIM card and subsequently hit his colleague's head against a metallic bed in the dormitory.
Meanwhile, the victim who was suspended initially has been recalled following the public uproar over his suspension.
A section of the public was of the view that it was not fair for him to be punished after going through such an ordeal and rather needed care.
He is currently undergoing medical treatment, and the school has assigned a psychologist to provide him with the necessary support and counselling to help him through the trauma he experienced.
The incident has generated widespread concern and outrage among parents, students, parliamentarians and the general public.
The video of the assault caused shock and raised questions about the safety and well-being of students in educational institutions.
Meanwhile, all the students who witnessed the assault but failed to report it have also been suspended pending investigations into the matter.
