Access Bank (Ghana) Limited, a member of the Access Bank Group is organizing a one day seminar on the development of an active secondary bond market in Ghana.
The seminar is the first of the bank’s “Thought Leadership Series” to hold in Ghana and is scheduled for August 5, 2010 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Labadi, Accra.
The discussions at the seminar will focus on exploring avenues to strengthen the Ghanaian financial system by creating alternative sources of financing through the secondary bond market. The sessions will also foster increased stakeholder participation for an efficient capital market as a pre-requisite to facilitate Ghana’s economic development.
The conference will feature accomplished Ghanaian and International experts including the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Paa Kwesi Amisah-Arthur; Treasurer, Bank of Ghana, Francis Andoh; Managing Director, Ghana Stock Exchange, Kofi Yamoah; Ag. Director, Aid & Debt Management Office, Alex Tetteh; Chairman & Co-Founder of Databank Financial Services, Ken Ofori-Atta; Resident Advisor to Ghana, US Department of Treasury, Jack Delaney, Director, Market Development – Debt Management Office (Nigeria), Patience Oniha; Chief Financial Officer, African Finance Corporation, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan and Head, Fixed Income & Local Market Trading, Renaissance Capital Ltd Nigeria, Ini Ebong.
A statement by the bank expressed the hope that the seminar will equip and position key players in the Ghanaian financial services industry to venture into the issuance and trading of bonds.
