The mortal remains of Mustapha Abdul Gafaru, a final year science student of Adisadel College in Cape Coast who jumped to his death on Sunday from the fourth floor of the schools’ new storey building, was on Monday buried at the Asokyeano cemetery after Muslim prayers at the Adisadel community mosque.The burial prayer, which was led by Alhaji Limann Zakari, was attend by a large congregation including the Minster of Education, Science and Sports, Professor Dominic Fobih, Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur, Ms Mercy Arhin, the Metropolitan Chief Executive and Mr Herbert Graham, the Headmaster of the school.Prof Fobih expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and said the ministry would set up a committee to investigate the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident.He also called on all, especially the Muslim community, to exercise restraint and wait for the committee’s report.
Alhaji Zakari urged the Muslim community not to take the law into their hands and asked them to remain calm whiles investigates goes on.Nana Arthur, who also expressed his sympathy to the family, said the school was closed down to ensure calm after the students had vandalized school property.Gafaru died on Sunday when he jumped from the fourth floor of the new storey building of the school to escape punishment from the senior house master, Mr Joseph Opare.Mr Opare went to lock up the classrooms in the new block which were being used by some of the students as place of convenience and the students, on seeing him, took to their heels. Gafaru who was on the fourth floor jumped to his death.Source: GNA
