The Alliance for Accountable Governance has sued all six mobile telecommunications companies and the National Communications Authority (NCA) in a bid to prevent them from installing a devise that will be used to monitor and evaluate all incoming international calls.
The Pressure group is seeking an order from the High Court to slap an injunction on the NCA and the operators that will keep them from installing the device.
According the affidavit, the NCA has directed all telecom operators to start implementing the monitoring and evaluation of all incoming international calls into the country starting June 1, 2010.
The group had earlier filed a writ at the Human Rights Court claiming that the installation of the monitoring devise violates the constitutional rights of Ghanaians to privacy.
It is for this reason that the group is seeking the injunction pending the determination of the case.
The Attorney General has also been cited in the suit.
