The Upper East Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Cletus Ayambere has stated that the National Chairman and General Secretary of the party Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong are welcome to the region to hold any party activity meant to ensure victory for the party in 2016.
He said the party in the region were pleased with Nana Akufo-Addo's assurance to hold President Mahama to his promise to ensure justice for the late Adams Mahama.
"Once the presidential candidate has directed that the National Chairman and General Secretary be allowed to come to the headquarters to do their work without hindrance, no one will hinder them from working in the Upper East region too. Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong will be welcomed to the region any time", Mr Ayambere said.
According to him, the death of the party’s Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama has negatively affected the party in the region, adding that if the perpetrators are not prosecuted according to the laws of the country, the pain in the hearts of the family and the members and supporters of the party would worsen and affect their contributions to the party.
Mr. Ayambe disclosed this to Daily Guide newspaper after a press conference held by the flagbearer at the party’s National Headquarters, Friday.
He explained that the call for truce by the party’s flagbearer has come at the right time and that he hopes all members and supporters of the party in the region would put the recent happenings in the party behind them and work hard to ensure victory in 2016 to honour the late party official.
Following the death of the regional chairman, Daily Guide has learnt that some five regional executives of the party run out of the town to avoid reprisal attacks by some party youth who allegedly threatened to kill them.
They include regional party organizer, Jerry Asamni, regional youth organizer, Bashiru Ibrahim, the Nasara Coordinator, Mba Siita, 2nd Vice Chairman Osman Kunkunaba and Women's Organizer, Florence Sampokabila.
