The Africa Diaspora Development Institute (ADDI) has donated medical consumables to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

The medical consumables in a 40-footer container were handed over to the management of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital on Monday.

Handing over the items at a virtual ceremony at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Founder and CEO of ADDI, Dr. Arikana Chihombori Quao, stated how passionate the institute is about the health of the people of Africa. She says the ADDI believes without a strong health care system, there can not be any economic development in any country.

“Health is an area very dear to me. The team led by Dr. Khazila believes there cannot be any economic development in any country without strong health care systems. It saddens us greatly as we travel throughout the continent, the suffering that we witness every day, the children that are dying, women dying while giving birth to another life,” she stated.

The ADDI is convinced that there is a need for them to reach out through other means even if they are not able to come home. Even though they are miles away, she asserted that change must come to Africa somehow.

She explained that the ADDI came together to raise funds to provide the container that was donated to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital as a result of the need to support the healthcare system.

She assured them they were looking forward to doing more with their fellow healthcare professionals and also entreated the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital to reach out to them if they had any needs and they would do their part to assist them.

“We do feel very strongly that you do need to reach out to us as well if you have any needs." It is only when we know what you need that we can also come together to do our part. ”

The Chief Executive Officer of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Dr. Eric Kofi Ngyedu, on behalf of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, accepted the items and expressed their gratitude for the gesture.  He promised to put the items donated to good use.

He stated the equipment was going to go a long way towards improving and making a difference in health care delivery at the hospital.

Dr. Ngyedu also urged Africans living in the diaspora to give back to Africa by using their brains and the wealth of knowledge they have accumulated to help Africans.

The Director of Nursing Services at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Sofia Blankson, also expressed her profound gratitude to ADDI and promised to make good use of the equipment.

The Cape Coast Teaching Hospital began a collaboration with the ADDI in 2021 as a result of the request made by the President of Ghana for Africans to return to help mother Africa in its quest to develop the continent. The equipment donated includes chemistry analyzers, incubators, water baths, clutches, laboratory fridges, isolation gowns, and others.
