Debra Alexander, a board member of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has officially been appointed as a co-opted member of the Africa Paralympic Committee (APC).
Alexander's knowledge and her expert ideas on sports administration over the years as well as involvement in strategic management in the said field was the rationale behind the APC to give her an appointment.

Confirming the role of the new executive, president of the APC, Samson Deen said in a statement, "We believe that your active service, knowledge and expertise in the Paralympic Movement and sports in general, would be brought to bear on the leadership and contribute to the Board and APC’s transformation agenda.”
As part of Alexander's duties, she is expected to be at board meetings, play a role in issues regarding any matter with voting rights, serve on relevant working committees delegated to stand in for APC at events and also defend and promote the interest of the APC. She will also be tasked to contribute to the development of Paralympic sports in Africa.
