Dr. Kofi Asare of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) who won the Akwatia parliamentary seat after a rerun of six polling stations in the constituency last week has taken his seat in parliament Tuesday after swearing the Oath of Parliament.
Dr. Asare beat Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Baba Jamal, who contested on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, and three others.
Last week’s rerun was occasioned by the inconclusive poll in the constituency on December 7, 2008, when some unidentified men were said to have stormed the affected centres to forcibly take away ballot boxes.
