The Movement for Change, led by presidential candidate Alan John Kyerematen, has made its way to the Volta Region as part of its “Caravan Tour,” a strategic campaign to connect with grassroots communities and outline Kyerematen’s vision for a prosperous Ghana.
The campaign, spearheaded by team leader Hopeson Adorye, has been traversing constituencies to gather support ahead of the upcoming elections.
On the second day of the tour, the Movement’s team paid a significant visit to the Awormefia of Anlo, Torgbui Sri III, one of the most influential traditional leaders in the region.
Torgbui Sri warmly received the team, expressing his strong relationship with Kyerematen. He remarked that although his "very good friend" Alan Kyerematen could not personally join the visit, he remains a staunch supporter of Kyerematen’s presidential ambitions.
The revered Awormefia assured the Movement for Change of his backing, noting that he supports Kyerematen's vision for the country and the Volta Region. "Alan Kyerematen has my full commitment to his ambition of becoming president," Torgbui Sri said, wishing him well in the upcoming elections.
In response, Hopeson Adorye conveyed Kyerematen’s appreciation for the chief’s enduring friendship and loyalty. Adorye highlighted Alan Kyerematen’s long-standing connection with the Volta Region, stating that Kyerematen often refers to the region as his second home. He recounted a pivotal moment when the late former president Jerry John Rawlings encouraged Kyerematen to "adopt the region." According to Adorye, Kyerematen has honoured this request and has remained committed to the development of the region ever since.

"Alan always refers to Torgbui Sri as the second godfather of the Volta Region, after the late Jerry John Rawlings. He holds the people of the Volta Region close to his heart and has comprehensive plans for the region’s development," Adorye told the Awormefia.
The Movement’s caravan also made a stop at the palace of Torgbui Dzelu IV, the Chief of Dzelukope, where the traditional ruler praised Kyerematen as a leader of high calibre. Torgbui Dzelu emphasized the need for Kyerematen to frequently visit the Anlo side of the region, urging the presidential candidate to engage more directly with residents to discuss pressing issues related to development.
"Alan Kyerematen is a great man by all standards," said Torgbui Dzelu IV. "He needs to visit more often and speak with the people here, especially in Anlo, so we can have in-depth discussions on the development needs of this area."
As the “Caravan Tour” continues, the Movement for Change seeks to solidify its presence in the Volta Region by fostering close ties with traditional authorities and grassroots supporters. Kyerematen’s team has consistently emphasized the candidate’s focus on inclusive development, particularly in historically underdeveloped regions such as Volta.
The Volta Region, often regarded as a critical battleground in national elections, has become a focal point for Kyerematen’s campaign. Through this tour, the Movement aims to build momentum by engaging directly with the people and reinforcing the narrative that Alan Kyerematen is a candidate dedicated to national unity and regional development.
As the elections draw closer, the Movement for Change hopes to leverage these key endorsements from prominent traditional leaders to galvanize support for Kyerematen’s bid for the presidency.
