Paramount chief of Alavanyo, Togbega Atakora, has called for a third party intervention in the ongoing land dispute between the people of Alavanyo and Nkonya.
There was a renewed violence between indigenes of the two communities in the Volta region on Wednesday June 26 night.
Two people were killed and another two seriously injured on Tuesday June 25 after renewed clashes ensued between the two communities.
Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, told Joy FM on Tuesday June 25 that “the situation is getting out of hands” and hinted of plans to invite the leaders of the two communities to Accra to dialogue.
Meanwhile, Togbega Atakora also says there is the need for immediate arbitration and assured he would attend any meeting called by a third party.
According to him, since 2004 mediation was progressing steadily until the Nkonya faction pulled out in 2009, stressing that dialogue would be the best solution.
