The former GFA chairman has appealed to the outgone Executive Committee of the association to refund part of the $15,000 received by each member as end of service benefit.
Alhaji MND Jawula although believes the payment of the ex-gratia to the erstwhile Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) was legitimate, he thinks the quantum was too much looking at other things the amount could do to the development of the game in the country.
Each of the 22 members of the outgone Executive Committee received $15,000 in November, following the end of their 4-year tenure.
That payment raised a lot of eyebrows from the public and football analyst and criticised the GFA of seeking their personal gains.
Alhaji Jawula, currently the chairman of the FA’s Club Licensing Committee has added his voice to the several commentaries and opinions that have been made about the $15,000 ex-gratia, calling on the recipient to refund part of the amount received.
“Our presidents and parliamentarians, as well as public servants take home ex-gratia so the payment to the former Exco members was right but it was way too much and they must refund part of the money.
“Some of those monies could have been channeled into other areas such as women football," he told Happy FM.
