An Accra High Court presided over by Justice Eric Baah, has described investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas as a blackmailer and extortionist.
“From the above," he said when he was about concluding a ruling he read for nearly two hours and thirty minutes, "I hold that the plaintiff is a blackmailer who uses blackmail to extort money from his opponents and people he does not like," Justice Baah noted.
"What the plaintiff is doing is not investigative journalism but investigative terrorism," he stated.
He, therefore, dismissed the defamation suit filed by Anas against the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
The Justice stated that the case lacked merit.
He, however, noted that although the words spoken against Anas were factual and capable of defamation, they could not be proven.
The presiding judge subsequently awarded costs of GH¢50,000 against Anas.
Justice Baah, a Court of Appeal judge, was sitting on the case with additional responsibility of a High Court Judge.
