The Anomabo Union have presented medical equipment worth GHS5,000 to the Anomabo Health Centre.
Established about 25 years ago by the Anomabo community as a health post, the Anomabo Health Centre was later handed over to the Ghana Health Service who expanded the facility to its current status while upgrading it and subsequently came to be known as the Anomabo Health Centre.
Through the efforts of Her Excellency, Mrs. Margaret Clarke-Kwaisie, Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea, the Medical Peace Foundation (MPF) of Korea, a financial medical organization authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea as a humanitarian organization, donated medical supplies worth about GHS5,000.00 to the Anomabo Health Centre on Saturday, September 3, 2011.
These supplies came in the form of medication for the treatment of liver, kidney, cardiac, gallbladder, duodenal ulcer, and venereal diseases and for the treatment of scars as well as quantities of analgesic, antipyretic and antibiotics.
Sons and daughters of Anomabo living mainly in the Greater Accra Region but scattered all over the country and living abroad and having come together to form the Anomabo Union (AU) presented these items to the Health Centre. Present at the ceremony were representatives from the Muslim community, medical personnel of the Health Centre, the Christian community, the Traditional community and a ranking member of the Anomabo Traditional Council, Nana Obuesiwa VII, Twafohen.
Handing over the medical supplies to the Physician Assistant in charge of the Health Centre, Mrs. Joyce Okyere-Yeboah, Mr. K.T. Dadzie on behalf of the Union, charged the personnel of the Health Centre to put these supplies to good use. He further implored them not to hesitate in bringing to the attention of the Anomabo Union, any form of assistance they might need since without such requests, they (the AU) would not be able to provide the requisite assistance.
In her acceptance speech, Mavis Narh, the Sub-district parent and Representative of the Municipal Health Directorate, Mfantsiman, thanked the AU for their kind gesture. She pointed out that the whole of the Mfantsiman district stood to benefit from this donation.
A member of the audience and a resident of Anomabo took the opportunity to point out that the services of the Health Centre were being underutilized due to the absence of a laboratory. This therefore compelled residents to seek medical attention from elsewhere such as Biriwa, where they are assured of getting the services of a laboratory. The AU promised to do its best to secure funding to build a laboratory for the Health Centre.
