A non-governmental organization, Ashland Foundation has provided support to help inmates of the Cured Leapers Village in Ho, in the Volta Region to celebrate Christmas.
It donated assorted items to the inmates who have triumphed over the challenges posed by leprosy.
The donation, which includes toiletries, water, groceries, and detergents, amounted to GH₵15,000.
The Founder of Ashland Foundation, Bright Wonder Ahali explained that the objective of his outfit is to support the underprivileged in society, by contributing their widow's mite to help alleviate their plight.
He explained that "the group, which happens to consist primarily of the youth, gathers a considerable number of resources from different philanthropists and then tries to help people who are genuinely needy in the society."
Mr. Ahali highlighted the need for others to support the foundation, either through finances or the provision of assorted items, to enable it to embark on as many donation exercises as possible to help make the world a better place and promote inclusivity.
“Together, we can continue to change perceptions and create a world where every single individual, regardless of his complicated, difficult past or health challenge, is truly treated with a considerable amount of dignity and respect”, Mr. Ahali stated.
The Camp Leader of the Cured Leapers Village, Nelson Atito gratefully received the items and thanked the foundation for the donation.
He also called on other well-meaning Ghanaians and organizations to remember the inmates during the festive season and extend support to them.
"We are immensely grateful for the Ashland Foundation's generous donation”, Mr. Atito stated.
