The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia is daring all 17 aspirants of the New Patriotic Party to take him to court over his statement accusing them of corruption.
Asiedu Nketia alleged last Tuesday at a public rally organised as part of a demonstration by the Committee for Joint Action, CJA, that nothing from the NPP Congress should frighten all who oppose the party’s rule because the congress was out to elect a chief criminal among a list of 17 criminals.
A press conference said to have been organised by the aspirants on Tuesday gave the NDC General Secretary on 48 hours to substantiate his allegations or retract them. They also asked the national Executive Committee of the NDC to chastise him.
But Asiedu Nketia, commonly referred to in political circles as General Mosquito, said he was unperturbed by their reaction and insisted he still stands by his word.
Meanwhile one of the aspirants in Saturday’s congress is asking delegates to the congress to reject aspirants engaged in wasteful spending.
Dr. Arthur Kennedy, who is questioning the source of funding of some his colleagues, also wants them investigated. He alleges that a number of his colleague aspirants were engaged in acts of bribery and should be a basis for delegates not to vote for them to lead the country.
