An aspiring candidate for the impending District level election in the Eggu Electoral Area has been shot dead by assailants Thursday night.
Robert Salia suffered multiple shots and died instantly in what family members suspect may be a robbery attack.
The deceased, 42, who is also a teacher at ST Cecilia JHS was shot between Eggu and Charia in the Wa Municipality, Joy News' Upper West Correspondent Rafiq Salam reported.
The motorbike he was riding on before the attack was taken away leaving his lifeless body in the middle of the road.
The number plate of the motorbike was disposed of a few meters away from the incident.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Wa Regional hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
Wa Police have confirmed the incident to Joy News and have begun investigations. This is the second time such an incident has occured in the area.
