MP for Abuakwa South Atta Akyea has sued managers of the construction firm J. Adom Limited.
The MP has been accused by company officials of embezzling over GHS230,000 while he was the company’s lawyer.
The company also alleges that he withdrew $60,000 from its accounts to purchase a house in a fictitious transaction.
But the MP has denied the allegations and insists he has not misconducted himself.
He tells Joy News he is suing the company to clear his name and collect the fees they owe him.
“For very, very weird motives, what was intended to be a lawyer-client relationship has turned so sour to the point that the man I have served faithfully, is using his place to exact money from me,” he lamented.
He added that the money he collected was his entitlements adding, “no lawyer is a labourer for his client.”
But the Managing Director of J. Adom Ltd, Kwabena Arhin, who admits receiving a writ of summons from his former lawyer says the company is ready to meet him in court.
“The claims that he (Atta Akyea) filed in the Chronicle is very ridiculous claim. If you are refunding my monies to me do you charge me for such a refund.
“These monies are the very reasons why we took him to court,” he said
