The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress is set to resume rigorous campaigning on Friday after a week of inactivity on the campaign platform.Prof Atta Mills suspended campaigning for some time to perform administrative duties after the presidential debate held last Wednesday. His absence has re-ignited questions about his health and his ability to withstand the rigours of the campaign. But Head of Communications of the Atta Mills campaign team, Koku Anyidoho, said the presidential candidate is as “fit as a fiddle”In an interview to Joy News’ Matilda Asante on Tuesday Koku Anyidoho dismissed assertions that the party’s presidential candidate could not withstand the rigours of the campaign due to ill health. He maintained the party had its own campaign strategy it was following.According to him, the presidential candidate will tour areas in the North, Volta and Western Regions after completing his administrative duties on Thursday. He described as negative ploy, attempts by some media organisations to impugn ill health to the presidential candidate, insisting, Prof. Atta Mills is fully fit to conduct a clean campaign and win massively in the December polls.
Explaining the kind of administrative duties the candidate was performing over the past week, Mr. Koku Anyodoho noted Prof. Mills was consulting with members of the diplomatic corps and some aggrieved members of the public service.Asked whether the Prof. would attend the funeral ceremony of the late Finance Minister, Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu on Thursday, Koku Anyidoho said the candidate was yet to take a decision on it.Story by Nathan Gadugah
