The Upper East Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association has concluded preliminary investigations into a mystery tape and allegations of bribery of journalists by some government officials.
Regional Chairman of Association Eric Amu would not say the details of the investigation but information gleaned by Joy News from its sources say the tape may have been concocted.
However, it was also established that attempts were made by some NDC activists to bribe some journalists in the region.
The media has been busy with journalists, social and political commentators all wagging over a controversial tape recording in which a deputy Information Minister Baba Jamal is alleged to be buying the conscience and professionalism of some journalists in the Upper East Region.
The recording also captured details and voices of an Enquirer reporter said to be part of the NDC Communications team.
Both men have disputed the credibility of the tape with the Minister threatening damages against the Daily Guide newspaper which first published details of the tape.
The National Media Commission and Bureau of National Investigations Committee have all been called upon to initiate an investigation into the matter.
The Upper East GJA took up the mantle and initiated the investigation and is ready with the report.
Speaking to Joy News, Mr Amu said the committee will present the report to him, Saturday noon.
“Yesterday we closed quite late. We entered into the night. The committee that is sitting on the report is supposed to present the report to me at noon,” he said.
“This will only be interim because investigations never end,” he noted.
