Barclays Bank Ghana has joined in the public service campaign to reduce carnage on the roads this festive season.
The Ashanti, Bono Ahafo and Northern cluster of the bank has been engaged in an educational programme for long distance drivers at Asafo in Kumasi.
Ahodwo Branch Manager of Barclays, Martin Ussher, says the exercise is under the bank’s corporate social responsibility programme dubbed “Make a Difference Day” aimed at instilling sanity on the raods this yuletide.
It is also to ensure clients and the general public stay healthy to continue doing business with the bank.
According to Mr. Ussher, workers of the bank have volunteered their time and resources towards the road safety education.
The Barclays MADD initiative affords staff the time to undertake activities with direct benefit to the communities in which they operate.
This year, the bank partnered with the National Road Safety Commission to drum home the need for drivers to be weary of the dangers on the road as they travel.
Drivers have been taken through eye and blood pressure screening to ensure they are physically fit to drive.
The Barclays road safety campaign comes at the backdrop of recent road accidents which has claimed tens of lives in Ashanti.
