The Managing Editor of the Al Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Bature has said the actions of the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo indicate that he is preparing himself for power sharing should he lose the 2012 elections.
According to him, the continuous boycott of state factions and certain statements like “all die be die” by the NPP flagbearer is part of his grand plan for power sharing in 2012.
The General Secretary of the NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has explained that Nana Akufo-Addo could not attend the 54th Independence Day Parade because the invitation came on Friday March 5, at the time he (Nana Addo) was traveling.
On Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Alhaji Bature explained that Nana Addo was creating an impression to the outside world that the opposition and the government are at loggerheads both at the tribal and political level hence the likelihood that the 2012 elections would not be peaceful.
He added that Nana Akufo-Addo as the statesman that he claims to be, did not need an invitation to attend the Independence Day parade which is of national interest.
Alhaji Bature said “Akufo-Addo, I have told him the last time, he is losing that respect that people have for him since becoming the leader of the opposition; he is losing it. Ghanaians are God fearing people”.
“We have one President; I think he should be told that in this country we have an elected government whether he won by one vote, he was elected by the people of Ghana and no matter how you try to portray him and his regime, the world knows the man Prof. Atta Mills whether you like him or hate him” he added.
Dominic Nitiwul MP for Bimbilla and a member of the NPP refuted that suggestion by Alhaji Bature and said “Nana Akufo-Addo is not interested in power sharing”.
“I can assure you and people who think the same way that the people of Ghana will give the mandate to Nana Addo to rule. If they do not give him the mandate, Nana Addo will respect the verdict of the people” he added.
