The Conflict-ridden township of Bawku in the Upper East Region is bouncing back to life.
Joy News checks reveal that a number of banks and business which relocated following the unstable situation there are returning to do business.
The Municipal Chief Executive Musah Abdulai tells Joy News this is as a result of the relative peace that has been experienced in the area thus far.
Bawku, one of the brisk commercial towns in northern Ghana, suffered a major economic setback in recent times due to the violent clashes there.
But the MCE says all these are now a thing of the past. Despite the peace however, Mr. Abdulai tells Joy News’s Seth Kwame Boateng, they are not leaving anything to chance.
“Bawku has now returned to its good old days that people and inhabitants of Bawku move about freely to do their commercial, social activities without any hindrance.
“I think that if we are able to sustain this current peaceful situation we won’t have any cause to complain.”
He however added the security have their eyes wide opened to unscrupulous people who are bent on creating unrest in the municipality.
