Samsung Africa has revealed that the new BlackBerry Messenger app (BBM) will become part of the Samsung Messenger Hub.
The BBM functionality will be integrated in Samsung devices through a Samsung messaging hub and thus enable Galaxy users to access BBM accounts and social network.
This will include BBM chats, multi-person chats and BBM Groups, which allows BBM customers to create groups of up to 30 people, as well as the ability to share photos and voice notes.
According to Jaspreet Singh, the Business Leader for Handheld Products at Samsung Ghana, the availability of the BBM on Samsung Smartphone devices reiterate Samsung’s dedication to enhance customer experience for users of the GALAXY Smartphone devices.
“We live in a society where the need to connect to family and friends as well as business relations has become increasingly important, we are therefore broadening the messaging options for our customers and are also providing them with reliable and affordable messaging platforms, something we believe the BBM will help us achieve,” Jaspreet Singh said.
BBM have traditionally had a large following with business users loving the security and business features while teenagers admire the free messaging in BBM. The BBM has around 50 million monthly active users who send about 10 billion messages per day.
The BBM app will be available "soon" for Galaxy phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 across Africa, and users can download the app for free from the Google Play Store or Samsung App Store.
