A 27-year-old driver standing trial for car theft, was on Monday remanded in prison custody by the Bibiani Circuit Court.
Enoch Eshun denied the offence and he would re-appear on Wednesday, January 26, 2011.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raymond Erzuah told the court presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Ankomah that the complainant, Jones Bosompem, is a teacher at Sefwi-Amafie.
He said the complainant owns a taxi-cab and has engaged the accused as a driver.
The prosecution said on November 11 last year, Bosompem asked Eshun to drive him to Sefwi-Bekwai to pay the daughter's school fees at the Sefwi-Bekwai Senior High School (SHS).
He said when they got to Sefwi-Bekwai township the complainant decided to transact some business as a result he told the accused to drop a friend at a lorry park before coming back to pick him up to the school.
The prosecution said Bosompem left the school fee, his cell phone and small radio set in the car.
DSP Erzuah said Eshun, who had other motive, fled with the taxi-cab and after a fruitless search for him a formal report was made to the police.
The complainant on December 9th last year, at about 2200 hours spotted the car at Tarkwa and raised the alarm.
Eshun abandoned the car and managed to escape but he run out of luck and was arrested on December 26th last year.
