Cape Coast Technical University beat the other five competing technical universities with their dessert.
The chefs are back at it again, and the kitchen is oozing heat. Episode 4 of Ghana’s biggest culinary combat, Big Chef Tertiary, saw all six schools battle it out in the kitchen to impress the judges once more with their amazing recipes.
The judges tasked the 18 contestants to prepare a creamy dessert, but there was a twist to it. The judges put caramel and other ingredients in each team’s mystery baskets without telling them the specific dessert they were to prepare.
The onus was on each team to figure out the dessert the judges wanted them to prepare with the ingredients provided. Each team was allocated 30 minutes to complete the task.
The contestants were encouraged to be innovative with the preparation and plating of the dessert. Before the task began, Chef Sam and Chef Tracy gave each team 2 minutes to choose their runners. After selecting ingredients from the open market, the time to tackle the task of the day finally arrived.
The popular phrases "clean as you go" and "if you waste my ingredients, I will waste your marks" were constantly being repeated by Chef Sam to remind all contestants to keep their stations neat, as it is one of the main rules for chefs.
Chef Tracy also went around interacting with the contestants to find out what they were preparing and was impressed at how smart all the contestants were as they had figured out the secret dish the judges wanted them to prepare.
"The secret was that we wanted them to prepare cream caramel, and all of them have figured it out. I am very happy. I think we are in for a show. I can also see how innovative they are being with the fruits, and I am impressed," she said.
At the end of the episode, the judges were impressed with Cape Coast Technical University’s creamy caramel dessert. Representatives of Cape Coast Technical College, Baaba, Ofori, and Andy, beamed with joy as they were crowned star schools of the day.
The kitchen is getting hotter. Who will win Star School of the Day in the next episode of Big Chef Tertiary?
