Black Queens captain Florence Okoe has asserted they are genuine contenders for this year’s African Women Championship trophy after completing a tour of Germany.
The Queens won all two friendly matches played against second-tier female sides at their pre-tournament camping base in Hannover.
Ghana face stiff competition from Group B opponents, Algeria, Cameroon and reigning champions Equatorial Guinea at the tournament which begins on Sunday.
The Queens were recently disgruntled over their unpaid bonuses of 6,000 dollars each from the qualifiers but midfielder Florence Okoe said they are hungry for success.
She said the players were determined to improve game after game.
