The General Secretary of the Opposition National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia is asking NDC members who are chiding the National Executives of the party of disunity to turn their guns to the Council of Elders.
Riding on the back of article 27, 23 and 25 which stipulates the roles of the national executives and council of elders, General Mosquito stressed that they are not liable for the supposed feud in the party.
The Member of Parliament for Shai Osudoku threatened to mobilize party supporters to oust the party leadership by December this year if they fail to unify the Rawlingses and the party.
However General Mosquito believes the MP does not know the party’s constitution. He therefore urged the MP to read the constitution to be abreast of the roles of the various groups in the party hierarchy.
“Look, after quoting the party’s constitution, you can see that it is clear the founding fathers resolve conflict issues and not National Executive Committee,” he noted.
He flayed some party members calling for his head as General Secretary, saying, the constitution states the functions of the secretary “so nobody can tell me to resign.
He urged party members who are calling for his head to consider referring to the party constitution
Speaking on Asempa FM’s current affairs programme, Ekosii-Sen on Wednesday, the General Secretary debunked claims that the NDC is disunited adding that it is rather going through structural transformation.
He opined that as a political party, anytime ther is such transformation, some party members become weaker in the face of the laws guiding the party.
“The more NDC structures grow the weaker some members become in the face of the constitution so they should understand that, instead of pouncing on the executives” he asserted.
He noted that some members of the party are investing in the disunity of the party: “Whenever the party is in disarray, other party members become happy and take advantage”
“Unlike the previous years when we were being labeled as a violent party, now the constitution is working so people think they are denied of their liberty but I want to assure them that it is just as a matter of time,” he added.
He assured party faithfuls of victory in the 2012 election because the government is working assiduously to improve the living conditions of the people “so how can Ghanaians choose NPP over us”.
