In Thursday's, July 31 episode of the Bald, Muscled, Pot-bellied, Skinny (BMPS) on Joy Prime, the panelists discussed why men return to women they've hurt.
In the heated conversation, Zeal, Alvin and Nanye, had similar opinions claiming that the answer is far less romantic than most would expect. It’s not about love, regret, or reconciliation , it’s about ego.
“Men go back to the women they’ve hurt because they want to satisfy their ego,” Nanye said bluntly.
He continued, “It’s not really about wanting a relationship again. It’s the thought of knowing someone else is now enjoying what you used to enjoy.”
Zeal agreed, saying the desire often comes from a place of personal pride rather than genuine emotional attachment.
“I’m not saying it’s right,” he admitted, “but there’s a certain level of ego in your mind that makes you want to go back , just to satisfy that urge.”
The conversation went deeper, touching on male curiosity and physical attraction.
“Sometimes it’s about wondering if the changes you see in her body now affect things in the bedroom,” Zeal added. “You see all the curves and you wonder , back then you couldn’t do certain things, but now maybe you can. So has that changed the experience?"
He didn’t stop there.
“I went back once, not because I missed her,” Zeal revealed. “I felt she was difficult to get, so it became a challenge , a task I needed to complete.”
That confession sparked more reactions.
Responding to whether men go back solely for sex, Nanye said, “Guys don’t even think about the hurt part. They’re not going back because they feel bad. They’re going back to something they remember enjoying. That’s all.”
Both panelists agreed that while women may think the return of a former partner signals remorse or unfinished emotional business, the motivation is often much simpler , and much more selfish.
Zeal summed it up clearly.
“It takes two to make a comeback happen. If he’s feeding there, it’s because you’re letting him in.”
Their frankness may be uncomfortable, but the message was clear, for many men, going back isn’t about healing , it’s about control, ego, and unfinished fantasies.
