A school boy at Hwidiem in the Asutifi South district of the Brong-Ahafo Region has been enstooled as linguist at Asona Palace of Osuodumgya Barimah Appiadwa Boafo II, the Paramount Chief of Hwidiem traditional area.
Ernest Adjei Mills, now Okyeame Osei Adjei, who turns 8 this November, is a class two pupil of OLA preparatory school and a member of the Hwidiem congregation of Christ Apostolic Church.
Okyeame Osei Adjei was enstooled on 11th August, 2014, by Osuodumgya Barimah Appiadwa Boafoh II at Hwidiem.
Speaking to The Chronicle, Osuodumgya Barimah Appiadwa Boafoh II, said little Yaw Adjei, as he calls him, always passes by his' house to greet him whenever he closes from school at 3pm.
“Nana how are you? I hear there are two people fighting to be made Omanhene, but I tell you that you will finally be sworn in as Omanhene. I wish to be a linguist when you become chief’, Yaw Adjei asks Osuodumgya Boafoh II daily.
“I made him a linguist after my enstoolment, since I had already promised him,” Nana told The Chronicle.
According to the Paramount chief, he did not allow the new linguist to swear any oath of allegiance, since he is a minor.
“The palace is grooming and nurturing him to become a powerful and responsible leader in the future,” Osuodumgya Barimah Appiadwa Boafoh II told The Chronicle, adding“Okyeame Yaw Adjei is wise, respectful, truthful, brilliant and fluent in the Twi language. He speaks like a chief.”
“The paramountcy has it in mind to give full scholarship to Okyeame Osei Adjei. I call on philanthropists, NGOs and individuals to come and support the boy.” Nana cheerfully told The Chronicle.
The mother of the seven year old linguist, Vivian Osei Bonsu, lamented about how people insulted and impressed upon her to stop her only child from entering the chieftaincy institution at a tender age.
”I prayed to God and gathered the courage. I will strongly stand behind my son since that is his wish,” she said in an interview with The Chronicle.
Meanwhile, Okyeame Osei Adjei, has advised Ghanaian children to be humble, respectful, study hard and be God fearing.
