The Breman Asikuma Senior High School, which was temporarily closed down, following students' disturbances, would be re-opened on Monday, February 22, 2010, for academic work.
The decision was taken at an emergency Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting on Saturday.
GNA learnt that it was agreed that bonds signed by students to be of good behaviour before they were re-admitted to the school should vigorously be enforced to ensure that sanity prevailed at the school.
The PTA appealed to government and the board of governors of the school to provide educational logistics and materials to enhance teaching and learning.
The authorities of the school in consultation with the District Education Director, District Chief Executive and District Police Commander, closed down the school on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 to prevent further destruction of government properties following students disturbances over water shortage at the boys dormitory.
Mrs. Felicia Opokuah Mallet, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Education Director, asked the PTA and school authorities to take adequate steps to prevent recurrence disturbance at the school.
Mr. Isaac Appiah, PTA Chairman, said the borehole at the boys' dormitory would be rehabilitated immediately to help solve the water problem facing the school.
Ms. Comfort E. Akomaning, Headmistress of the School, told the meeting that when the borehole at the boys' dormitory developed a fault, the girls were asked to fetch water from a borehole at their dormitory to the boys' residence between 1530 hours and 1830 hours.
She explained that when the school authorities realised that the girls went contrary to the directive, they were stopped from sending water to the residence.
Ms. Akomaning said the action did not go down well with the boys and they boycotted classes resulting in the closure of the school.
Some of the students who arrived at school with their parents told the GNA that they were happy that they have returned to continue with studies.Source: GNA
