New Edubiase FC started the 2010/11 premiership on a bright note when they beat Berekum Arsenals 3-1 in their opening match at the newly adopted Gyamfi Sports Complex at Ashanti Bekwai on Sunday.
Stephen Manu, formerly of Kumasi Asante Kotoko was the main architect behind all the three goals which came in the first half to ensure the home team picked the three maximum points at stake.
The match, which formed part of activities making the inauguration of the renovated Sports Complex, was financed by the Traditional Council, the Bekwai Development Council and Nana Kaakari Appau II, Omanhene of Bekwai Traditional Area.
Manu, popularly known as B.A., scored in the 10th and 25th minutes of the game, before Shaibu Adams pulled one back in the 30th minute for Arsenals.
Tall lanky Manu was on hand to seal victory for the home side in the 40th minute, with the third goal to record the first hat trick of the competition to end the first half.
Arsenals lifted up their game in the second half but the defence of Edubiase stood firm to thwart their efforts.
Edubiase FC also made last minute onslaught on the visitors to increase their goal tally but to no avail until referee Awal Mohammed brought proceedings to an end.
