Ghanaian boxer, Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, has officially announced his retirement from the sport.
The 43-year-old confirmed he is ending his career after long months of not fighting professionally.
Bukom Banku rose to fame in 1999 when he sealed a bronze medal at the All-Africa Games in Johannesburg, South Africa.
He held the WBO Africa Light Heavyweight and WBO Africa Cruiserweight titles during his career which spanned over two decades.
"I’m now grown and at the same time my eye is also paining me, so I don’t want to fight again,” Bukom Banku stated in an interview with Okay FM.
"I have three children and my children are also fighting boxing, so I leave everything to them. I leave my gloves to Abu Kamoko and Mustapha Kamoko to fight on.
"I’ve already prepared the road so they can continue my name. Where I couldn’t reach in boxing, maybe they can reach there. So officially I’ve quit boxing."
His dominance in the ring resulted in an astounding 29 wins in 30 fights, with his only defeat coming against Bastie Samir in October 2017.
