Joint leaders Keta Sunset Sports and Havedzi mighty Warriors further stated their intentions of claiming the gong for the third season of the CAL Bank Beach Soccer league with impressive victories in match-day 14.
The Champions had to rally from a goal down to beat fifth place, Wuo Gbee by three goals to one. Sunset’s striker and the league’s leading goal scorer Sema Michael bagged a brace while Akabu Benjamin put the cherry on the cake after Shadrack Adams had initially given the Wuo Gbee the lead.
With three points safely secured in the bag for the leaders Sunset Sports, their nemesis Havedzi Mighty Warriors ensured they kept touching distance with them at the top, also coming from a goal down to beat La Yoca, 5-3. Abdallah Michael stirred up a few nerves amongst the Volta faithful, registering the game’s first goal for La Yoca but a goal apiece from Albert Ashinyo and Kudadah Sampson placed the Warriors firmly in control just before the break.
The second and third session tailed along the same line with Eugene Dekpey and Tagbor Charles adding their names on the score sheet and Kudadah Sampson also grabbing his second of the game. For the Osu based club the defeat extends their run of successive defeats to four in four games.
Debutants Gulf Powers blew a 5-2 lead to draw five all with fourth place East Legon Sharks. The two teams by far the surprise package of the campaign, leveled on points at third and fourth place respectively thrilled fans to a ten goal thriller. The sharks for the second time in three weeks staged an amazing comeback having trailed by two goals in the third session of the game.
Captain Frederick Kwevi four goals together with Francis Botchwey goal had to put Powers in a commanding lead before Alex Adjei and Alfred Nyarko rallied the Sharks back into the game with Raymond Tetteh sealing the comeback with seconds to go.
With the result throwing the race a place in the top four wide opened with 4 games to go.
