Pandemonium broke out at the Asamankese Circuit Court on Tuesday, when an accused attacked a police woman.
The drama began when Moses Tetteh, an unemployed was called to the dock to face a charge of stealing a car.
Tetteh, who since entering into the court room behaved abnormally, attacked Police Constable Hannah Owusu, as she was trying to open the handcuffs on his wrists.
He kicked the police woman and engaged the police, who tried to subdue him in a hectic struggle.
In the process the court was forced to adjourn for about 15 minutes and re-convened when the situation had normalized.
The Judge, Mr Emmanuel Siameh, then warned Tetteh that he could face additional charge from his aggressive behaviour and advised him to behave.
Detective Police Inspector Xystus Okorey told the Ghana News Agency at the end of proceedings that, Tetteh, who is based in Ashaiman, stole a car at Suhum and was driving it towards Accra when he smashed it into another vehicle.
He was arrested and was to face the full rigours of the law when he adopted that violent attitude.
He said since his arrest, Tetteh had pretended to be mentally disturbed and when he feigned sick and was being sent to the Suhum hospital, he attempted to escape and was re-arrested.
