Former chairman of the Confiscated Assets Committee, Carl Wilson says he carried a gun on him to the Obuasi Len Clay sports Stadium purely to protect himself.
Mr. Wilson has been in the news recently, accused of disrupting a football match between New Edubiase and AshantiGold after pulling out a weapon.
But he denied ever pulling out the gun.
He said he was at the stadium for a football game and not to pull guns.
Mr Wilson said an unidentified person pointed to the gun which he had concealed attracting for him unwarranted attention and creating a near-stampede in the stadium.
“I didn’t foresee that this will be politicised and turned into something else. I went there as a football management member and a football lover,” he said.
Mr Wilson said he has been attacked time and again and some are even “conspiring to poison me, to kill me, I have to be careful.”
Meanwhile the Obuasi divisional police commander chief superintendent Emmanuel Amissah says preliminary investigations into the incident have been concluded.
He said once Mr Wilson was a national security operative, he was entitled to the weapon found on him and that he could not be charged.
