The National Identification Authority has suspended its scheduled mass registration exercise in the Brong Ahafo Region due to lack of funds. This was confirmed by Bertha Dzebleh, Pubic Relations officer of the Authority in an interview with Joy FM’s Super Morning Show host Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah on Tuesday.According to her, the Authority needed an amount of two million cedis to conduct its registration in the Brong Ahafo Region but it is yet to receive the amount from the government. She said the Authority is still exploring other avenues to raise funds to complete the project. The National Identification Authority is charged with the responsibility of providing a national database of all Ghanaians in the country. They have conducted registration in six regions and are left with the Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper East and West regions.Bertha Dzebleh said the lack of funds will delay the registration process in the Brong Ahafo Region but hopes the government will soon provide the necessary funding needed for them to meet their deadline.Story by Nathan Gadugah/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
