President of the Ghana Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Steve Asante, says the unscrupulous activities of some self-acclaimed men of God in the country are a threat to Christianity and the society at large. He is worried the quest to rid the society of fake prophets has become a difficult task due to the liberties of association, adding that it behooves Ghanaians to watch out for charlatan crusaders, who claim to be spiritual leaders but seek to exploit the ignorant. Rev. Asante spoke to Luv News after addressing the Annual Conference of the Baptist Pastors’ Wives Fellowship at Ejura in the Ashanti region. According to him, recent occurrences in Christendom are signs of the last days as stated in the Holy Bible. “In the last days, false prophets will enter into God’s economy and we’re seeing it; I don’t have to mention any name. We have enough information, enough knowledge about the mess in which we find ourselves. So a lot of charlatans have entered into God’s vineyard and causing a lot of havoc. But this the Lord knew, the apostles many years ago”, stated the Minister. According to Rev. Asante, the false prophets will soon be exposed and “you see God will judge everyone of them before our own eyes. In a very short time, you’ll see all of them messing up, disgracing themselves”, quoting 2 Peter 2:1-3. He entreated Christians to be wary of over-dependence on money and worldly materialism, which he believes can jeopardize their relationship with God. President of the Baptist Pastors’ Wives Fellowship, Mrs. Elizabeth Osei-Wusu, says the conference theme “Prayer Our Weapon for the Harvest” was aptly chosen to remind members of their roles in supporting their husbands to serve in the Lord’s vineyard.
