Child Online Africa (COA) has joined the rest of the continent to commemorate the 2025 Day of the African Child under the theme “Planning and Budgeting for Children’s Rights: Progress Since 2010.”
As part of activities to mark the day, the organisation has announced a nationwide donation of its Executive Director’s book, The Silent Mountaineer, to all 119 public libraries across Ghana.
The initiative, made possible through the support of Afram Publications Ghana Ltd, Exon Solutions Ltd, Dynamic Data Solutions Ltd (dss55), and other benevolent individuals, aligns with COA’s commitment to protecting children’s rights in the digital space.
The Silent Mountaineer is a child-friendly resource that helps families, educators, and communities better understand and engage in Child Online Protection (COP).

According to COA, the book aims to spark informed conversations on digital safety, particularly as the internet becomes increasingly accessible to young people.
“This donation reflects our dedication to ensuring that children's safety online is part of broader national and community planning,” COA said in a statement.
“We encourage every family to acquire a copy and help nurture digital responsibility at home.”
While progress has been made across Africa since 2010 in promoting children's rights, COA says the digital age presents evolving risks that require a united front.
The organisation is calling on governments, private sector partners, and civil society to invest in projects that build children's digital resilience.
COA is also appealing for bulk investments in The Silent Mountaineer to expand its reach to more schools, libraries, and communities across Ghana and beyond.
“Together, we can ensure that every child is equipped to navigate the digital landscape safely and responsibly,” the statement concluded.
