The Coca-Cola Bottling Company has initiated a women entrepreneurship project under which 5 million women would be globally empowered economically in Accra.
The initiative dubbed: ‘5 by 20” project’ will offer financial skills training to women and school drop outs across the country.
Under the project, Coca-Cola in collaboration with some financial institutions would provide soft loans to the women to enable them start their own business.
The beverage giant as part of its social responsibility engaged about 50 women in Tema in a training workshop to help them improve upon their basic business and entrepreneurial skill.
Speaking at the workshop, Public Affairs and Communications Director of Coca-Cola, Isaac Augustus Antwi said they rolled out this project because women play a very crucial role in society.

He noted that women are not only pillars of business but also pillars of their communities because they invest a sizable portion of the money they earn in the health and education of their children and in their local economies.
“When we invest in the success of women, we invest in our own success and in the success of communities around the world” he added.

The Coca-Cola Communications Director indicated that the project is moving towards planned success by 2020 using women who make up a significantly high percentage of key segments of Coca-Cola since women are essential contributors to the company’s success.
Mr. Antwi said unleashing the entrepreneurial potential of women is one of the surest ways to make the business of the company sustainable and one of the most effective and lasting ways to help families and communities prosper.
