The entire fishing community of Moree in the Central Region has been thrown into a state pf mourning after a 40-year-old man set six children ablaze.
The six children aged between 6 and 14 years.
One of the children has died and health officials say the others, in a critical condition, are responding to treatment.
The fisherman, Kobina Amakye, threw an improvised explosive device at the children for disturbing his siesta on Sunday.
The body of the deceased, Kweku Mensah, has been deposited at the Central Regional Hospital morgue.
Joy FM's Central Regional correspondent, Richard Kwadwo Nyarko who visited the fishing community reported that the family of the affected wailed uncontrollably as residents visited them to express their condolences.
One of the victim’s mother told Joy News that what the man did was completely unacceptable She added that she felt the pain of her child calling for God’s intervention.
The Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Kotokuraba District Police in Cape Coast are investigating the incident.
