A group calling itself “The Concerned Youth of Sekiondi-Takoradi” has petitioned the president through the deputy Western regional minister, to replace the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Sekondi-Takoradi. The petitioners claim the MCE, Captain Anthony Cudjoe (Rtd) has neglected the city. The group said the MCE has performed poorly in his two year stay and should not be given another appointment. Nana Nketia Kumah, the spokesman told Radio Maxx’s Ebenezer Afanyi Dadzie that the debt of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) had increased and the MCE had done nothing about it. He complained about the sale of valued properties including the Chief Executive’s bungalow which is being auctioned because the assembly had become insolvent. “We want someone who can come and help Sekondi-Takoradi take up the glory it deserves” Nana Nketia commented. In response to the issue, Captain Anthony Cudjoe admitted to the indebtedness of STMA especially, to waste management service providers. He said the debt was not accrued under his term. The MCE referred the group to the Sekondi Bridge and the schools that have been built. He mentioned the ongoing works on a 1.5 million dollar integrated social center, construction of Mampong road as well as many others.
